Hello, everyone!

My name is Mr. Kris Targett, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Spruce Mountain Middle School. My time here has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful every day for the opportunity to work with our amazing students, staff, and families.

Since joining SMMS, I have focused on building a positive, supportive, and student-centered school culture. Our mottos—Take care of yourself, take care of each other, and take care of this place—guide everything I do. I believe deeply in creating an environment where every student feels valued, safe, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally.I take pride in being visible and involved, whether I’m greeting students in the hallways, collaborating with teachers, or cheering on our school events. My goal is to ensure Spruce Mountain Middle School is a place where respect, learning, and connection thrive, and where every student knows they matter.

I’m excited for all the great things ahead and look forward to continuing our work together as a strong, caring school community.
